HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS

Is it really that time of year again? Despite a bit of uncertainty in the economy, this time of year is still one of reflection and thoughts of family. Please accept our thanks for making Barley's part of your family. We hope we do right by you. As you prepare for this holiday season, make Barley's part of your plan. Here are a few ideas for you.

  • Gift Certificates! Who wouldn't enjoy a gift certificate to Barley's? From now until Christmas Eve, we're making an offer you simply can't refuse. For every $100 in gift certificates you purchase, we'll toss in a bonus $20 gift certificate for you. Make someone smile, and we return the favor. Win-win. Jingle bells.
  • Barley's Merchandise! We've got tee shirts and other merchandise items for those stocking stuffers.
  • Barley's Growlers! We know you come in to fill your growlers for the holidays. What better gift for your party host or family members than a Barley's growler freshly filled with Barley's Christmas Ale, or other tasty brew?.

Happy Holidays from everyone here at Barley's!

16th ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Thanks to Anna Dickson from WCBE 90.5 FM, our guest tappers this year, and to Columbus Alive, as well as to the entire staff for putting on a great show.

BARLEY'S UNDERGROUND FOR YOUR PRIVATE AFFAIR

Did you know that we've got a unique multipurpose space right next to our cellar brewery? We call it Barley's Underground, and it's available for family and friend get-togethers, business meetings and anything else you can think of.

We've got an updated banquet package that you can look at on line. Just follow this link...

NEW HAPPY HOUR!

It's here. Our new, Expanded Happy Hour. You can now get your favorite Barley's pint at reduced prices Monday through Friday, from 3-7PM. But that's not all.

Starting today, we have Barley's Imperial pints--a 20 ounce serving. We've also got pitchers for when you're here with a crowd. It's your choice. Just don't say, "supersize me." We're not that kind of place. OK?

We don't stop there. On some days, we have certain Barley's ales discounted for the entire day, going into late night. Every day, we've got some awesome food features at very friendly prices. Read all the details here. We doubt you'll want to be away from Barley's for even a day now!

Now about Saturday...

We're introduing Barley's Ultimate Challenge. We've created a hu-normous burger that defies description. A full 1-1/2 pounds of fresh ground beef, cheese, lots of it, bacon, and more and more and more. We add steak fries to the mix and you've got Barley's Ultimate Burger.

Barley's Ultimate Burger premiering Saturday, August 23

What's more, if you can eat the whole thing, including the fries, by yourself, in 30 minutes or less, it's on us. Barley's is your place for an extended happy hour, great late nite pricing and awesome pub grub that's easy on the wallet. This is just one of the great features we have throughout the week.

Thanks to all the homebrewers who participated, and to all the brewers who stopped in to make Afternoon With The Brewers the communal event that it is. We couldn't do it without you.

Oh, yeah. The winner. We did have a winner in this year's contest, as is tradition. See if you can guess the winner by looking at the list, and reading the following.

Come next year, we'll be drinking a dark beer-- a lager at that. The alcohol content will be in the 4.8-5.0% range, and it will be opaque. It should end up with aa chocolately or coffee-like flavor. It is often served with chunky, dark breads and cream cheese. It also pairs well with brisket and sauerbraten. The beer you will be drinking next year:

SCHWARZBIER by Matthew Boehm

Congratulations, Matthew, to all the finalists and everyone who came out searching for the finest beers in the land. See you next year!

NEW MENU

Be sure to stop in to see our updated menu. We've kept all your favorites, and added some exciting new items. Gooey Pale Ale Chili Cheese fries and Barley's Gates of Hell Chicken Strips, for starters. Can we interest you in Barley's BBQ Pretzel Chicken or Cobb salad?

Pale Ale Chili Cheese Fries, Cobb Salad and Philly Burger

BBQ Bacon, Philly and Southwest burgers rounds out our other classics. On the more delicate side, may we suggest our new Salmon Baguette sandwich & salad? Chicken Cordon Bleu and Diablo Chipotle chicken sandwiches from our grill go mighty fine with our award winning ales.

Grilled Chicken Diablo, Salmon Baquette & Salad and BBQ Chicken Wrap

BBQ or Sweet Chili Chicken are two of our seven wraps. Our summer entrees include Black and Tan strip steak and bacon wrapped pork loin. We even have a gouremt mac and cheese that includes white cheddar, smoked gouda and white truffle oil.

White Truffle Oil Mac & Cheese, Black and Tan Strip Steak, Jumbo Ice Cream Sandwich

New for dessert include old fashioned peach cobbler, New York creme brulee cheesecake and our jumbo ice cream sandwich. Well, what are you waiting for? Get your buttocks down here!

Check out complete details here.

TOP TEN BEER COMMERCIALS

While we know you love Barley's ales, we don't do commercials. We leave that to the big boys. A website called CamelTap has compiled the top ten. As you quaff a pint of ours from your growler at home, enjoy a few commercials from them. Cheers!

That's it until next week. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, write to me.

Cheers!
